The title of the exhibition, Roma Decade, refers to the Decade of Roma Inclusion: 2005-2015, initiated by the Open Society Institute. The Roma migrated to Europe over the centuries from India. They are the largest ethnic minority in Europe, but have experienced few benefits of the democratic transition in Europe since 1989. The Roma Decade project is supported by nine European countries, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the UN.

As the Photographer-in-Residence at the André Kertész Museum, Zsuzsanna Ardó took the photos in this exhibition over the past two summers in Hungary, by the Danube and in Budapest. The exhibition has travelled from various cities in Hungary to the USA and India, where it was featured  at the India International Centre, the Hungarian Cultural Centre, and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. These Roma photos are exhibited in the UK for the first time.

A remarkable camera, a remarkable artist... Ardó finds her camera an effective tool, which helps to focus her attention in the search for what is true and beautiful in the world around us. I am glad that she has come to India.  The Hindu

For those who believe in being simple yet sagacious, the exhibition of photographs... was truly a splendid treat.  Delhi Midday

She zooms in on the ordinariness of Europe's largest ethnic community. But the focus is soft, Ardó's eye sensitive.  Indian Express
